Flotilla 1-1 has been operating from Babylon Village Hall for more than 50 years. Throughout its history, our Flotilla has been dedicated to Public Education and Operations. Our Operational Facilities (Search and Rescue vessels) are under control of the U.S. Coast Guard Station Fire Island and perform Search and Rescue (SAR) in an area greater than 600 square miles. This area includes the offshore waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Great South Bay from Massapequa to Shirley.

Our Flotilla has received USCG Unit Commendations for its work in all five OP-SAIL's, The Mid West Floods of 1993, The 1995 Special Olympics held in Connecticut and the TWA Flight 800 Air Crash off Moriches in 1996. Individual members have received Coast Guard Awards for multiple Lives Saved, Medical Evacuations, Special Operations and individual SAR cases.
